Barron’s Disclosure – 2024 RIA

Disclosure

Barron’s conducted and reviewed data independently to develop the 2024 Top RIA Firms list. Advisors who wish to be ranked must first pass a prequalification process aimed at ensuring that those in the mix are experienced and sophisticated advisors. Criteria used for this ranking includes: 1) The firm serves primarily private wealth clients (i.e. individuals and families, as opposed to companies and organizations). Specifically, over 50% of the firm’s regulatory assets under management should be attributable to some combination of the three categories of clients as captured in Form ADV, choices (a), (b) and (h) under Item 5.D.; 2) The firm is a legal entity (Corporation, LLC or LLP) and employs a formal CEO, along with other C-suite executives; 3) The firm’s advisors are client-facing and provide fee-based investment advice and financial planning services; 4) The firm’s advisors are formal employees of the firm, not consultants or affiliates; 5) The firm’s advisors report their regulatory assets under management through the firm’s Form ADV; 6) The firm provides advisors with technology, compliance and investment resources that foster a consistent client experience throughout the firm’s individual advisory practices; and 7) The firm's top executives as listed in the ranking application and/or the firm's Form ADV Schedule A (Direct Owners and Executive Officers) are not active participants in any of Barron's Top Advisor rankings. Those who meet the criteria then fill out a survey with more than 100 questions about their practices.  Barron’s verifies that data with the advisors’ firms and with regulatory databases, then Barron’s applies their rankings formula to the data to generate a ranking. The formula features three major categories of calculations: 1) assets, 2) revenue, and 3) quality of practice. In each of those categories, Barron’s completes multiple sub calculations. The rankings are meant as a starting point for clients looking for an advisor—a first-pass vetting that can help investors narrow a search. Each advisor will have his or her own approach to investing, financial planning, and other services. Clients are encouraged to approach a search for an advisor the way they would a search for a doctor—interviewing multiple professionals and getting opinions from multiple third parties. Evergreen Gavekal was not the top-ranked advisor or company in this list. This rating is not indicative of future performance. The rating is not representative of a client’s experience with Evergreen. The survey was conducted by Barron’s and Evergreen did not pay a fee to participate.
