AI Regulation Rhetoric Heats Up

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has grown exponentially in recent years, revolutionizing various industries and transforming the way we live and work. The speed of development and the fears that further developments could create unknown consequences, have prompted governments, regulators, and business leaders to weigh in on the issue over the last several weeks.

Recently, several prominent technology leaders, including Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, signed an open letter imploring others to pause AI experiments with systems more powerful than GPT-4 for at least 6 months. Additionally, last week Italy became the first Western country to ban ChatGPT altogether.

As AI applications reach the mainstream, it’s likely that this debate will continue to heat up. The question becomes whether Artificial Intelligence or humans will be driving the storyline…
