Melissa Hilty, JD, LLM

Melissa holds the position of Senior Tax Advisor at Evergreen Gavekal. She works with the firm’s wealth advisors and clients to develop strategic tax plans that align with their financial goals. Melissa tailors her advice to the individual client’s needs to identify opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation. Melissa also collaborates with the accounting team at Evergreen Sterling Kuder to ensure client tax goals are met.

Melissa worked for 16 years as a tax attorney for the Internal Revenue Service. Among other roles, she held the positions of Special Trial Attorney and Associate Area Counsel.  She litigated the Service’s most significant tax cases, advised revenue agents during audits, and managed attorneys in the Large Business and International Division. Melissa is a two-time recipient of the National “Outstanding Litigator” award and has presented on topics involving technical tax issues and litigation skills.

Melissa earned a L.L.M. in Taxation from University of Washington, her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law (Summa Cum Laude), and her B.S. in Accounting from Portland State University.
